Theory
**Goal:** Get the variable alone on one side.
**Principle:** What you do to one side, do to the other.
- x + 5 = 12 → subtract 5 → x = 7
- 3x = 18 → divide by 3 → x = 6
Examples
Solve: x - 8 = 15
Solution: x = 15 + 8 = 23
