The GMAT Focus Edition (about 2 hours 15 minutes) has three 45-minute sections — Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights — and is scored 205–805. The shorter GRE (about 1 hour 58 minutes, since September 2023) has five sections: one 'Analyze an Issue' essay plus two Verbal and two Quantitative sections, with Verbal and Quant scores of 130–170 each. The GMAT is most associated with business school; the GRE is accepted by thousands of graduate and business programs.
