🏒 Engineering Employer Assessment

Shell: Independent Engineering Preparation

Applying for an engineering role at Shell? Start with your vacancy, invitation and candidate resources. This page provides independent JTP study suggestions, not a verified employer test battery, vendor or hiring sequence. Optional topics available below: Chemical Engineering Test, Petroleum Engineering Test, Mechanical Engineering Test. Use them only for relevant skills. Job Tests Portal is not affiliated with Shell.

Check the task before choosing practice

Record the role, location, deadline, equipment and permitted tools from your actual invitation. Ask the recruiter about anything unclear. Try the supplied candidate practice first; do not infer a provider, question count or stage sequence from this page.

Preparation scope: The employer's own instructions determine your assessment formats, permitted tools and next steps. Commercial preparation descriptions do not substantiate employer requirements.

Choose relevant engineering topics

JTP offers these optional discipline selections on this page: Chemical Engineering Test, Petroleum Engineering Test, Mechanical Engineering Test. Compare their topics with the skill requested in your task. A product name does not mean the employer uses the same test or requires the whole selection.

For a relevant technical exercise, draw the system, label units, state assumptions and explain a trade-off. For a discussion of past work, describe your own contribution and the evidence behind your decision.

Work an original calculation and check its limits

Original JTP example: a fictional process supplies 800 joules of energy and produces 600 joules of useful output. Efficiency is useful output divided by input: 600/800 = 75%. The remaining 200 joules are not useful output in this definition. Identify the system boundary before using the number; the calculation alone says nothing about a real machine or its safety.

This example is independent study, not a Shell question or a prediction of its assessment. Create another example, check the units and explain why the denominator is input energy.
